Dance Music Update

Hey kids,
It's another dull rainy day here in Vancouver, but one thing I know that can always brighten the mood on crappy days like this is some good ol' dance music!  I thought I was back in hip-hop/r&b mode, but one night at the Venue has got me craving for more electronic type stuff.  It's almost the weekend so here's a variety of dance tracks, old & new, to help you get your groove on.  Make sure to check them all out.  I don't think I've posted any of these tracks before.  There's gotta be at least one you'll like.

Killa Kela - Everyday (Lifelike Remix)
If you can only choose one song to download from this list, choose this one.  I've had this on heavy rotation for the past month or so.  Lifelike's production values are simply amazing.  He never disappoints on his remixes.

Ghosthustler - Someone Else's Ride
This song came out sometime in 2008.  I rediscovered it while shuffling through my iPod and I haven't been able to stop listening to it ever since.  It's just too bad that Ghosthustler had to break up.  I'm still patiently waiting for them to get back together and release some new stuff.  For now check out Alan Palomo's (Ghosthustler's former lead singer) other projects, VEGA and Neon Indian.

Hyper Crush - That's How We Roll (Feat. Kinetic)
Hyper Crush is one of my biggest music-related guilty pleasures.  I shouldn't like them, but I do and I'm not ashamed to admit it.  They have fun with their music, they have their own unique style, and they never hold anything back.  They are second only to LMFAO in terms of my favourite electro-rap groups.  I love their swagger on this song.

Justice - D.A.N.C.E. (Alan Braxe Remix)
A nice, laidback remix of a classic Justice song.

Hostage - I Get High
Hostage samples Freda Payne very well in this upbeat electro track.  This song reminds me of the good times...

Munk - Back Down (Cut Copy Jackmaster Remix)
Cut Copy does a great job remixing Munk's new single.  This is 100 times better than the original version.  I didn't think much of this song at first.  I listened to it, wasn't very impressed by the start, kept listening, still nothing good, waited some more, nothing, then around the 90 second mark the piano kicks in and BOOM, I fell in love.

Beyonce - Broken-Hearted Girl (Alan Braxe Dub)
Alan Braxe turns Beyonce's R&B hit into a very danceable house track.

Calvin Harris - Stars Come Out
Everyone probably has Calvin Harris' new album by now but I still felt like posting this track.  It has recently replaced "You Used to Hold Me" as my favourite track from "Ready for The Weekend".  I really wish I saw him perform at the Venue two weeks ago, but by the time I found out, it was too late.  Make sure to pick up his album if you can because it's a classic.  It should be lighting up dance floors for years to come.

Meroz - Your Lover *link fixed*
I don't have much to say about this song other than I genuinely love it.  Trust me, it's real good.  Who knows, you might even end up wanting to be Meroz's lover....

Mansion - Gasaida
I thought about posting this Mansion song awhile ago but I wasn't really feelin' it then.  It's grown on me now though, and I have a feeling more than a few of you will like it.

Tesla Boy - Spirit of the Night (Bestrack Remix)
I blogged about Tesla Boy a few days ago.  Go through the archives if you missed it.  Here's a remix of one of their songs.  If you haven't heard of Bestrack yet, look him up.  Just like Lifelike, he is another great DJ/remixer/producer from France.  As a matter of fact, it seems like many of my favourite artists are from France (Daft Punk, M83, Phoenix, Air, Justice and the list goes on and on....)

Madonna - Into The Groove (Bestrack Remix)
Bestrack is so good, one remix is not enough....

Shakira - She Wolf (Villains Remix)
This is my second favourite remix of  "She Wolf", the first one being the Calvin Harris remix.  The Villains give this song a much harder edge and it works out great.

Dizzee Rascal & Calvin Harris - Dance Wiv Me (Shazam Remix)
I prefer this over the original version but truthfully, I probably just got sick of the original.

Dmerit - Stuck On You
Be patient because this song has a long build up.  2 minutes to be exact.  If you can't handle that then this song is not for you.  Or you could press fast forward.  The choice is yours.

Finally, here's the vid for Tinchy Stryder's upcoming single "You're Not Alone".  This is an amazing track and should continue his current streak of hits in the UK.

Ok that's it.  Get out and get dancing!

Til the next episode... Peace

Raf
